In July of 2007, I bought my Vmax. It's been a great bike, but at 17 years old is in need of some work.

She still looks as good as the day I bought it, but I'm doing some much overdue heavy maintenance to get her back in shape.

Bought a bike jack from Harbor Freight.

Got her airborne and took the wheels off.

Ordered some new Metzler 888 tires and Sean Morley is working on a new brake system for me. He's building me some 6 piston Sumitomo calipers to replace the factory 4 piston calipers.

I'm also replacing some other odds and ends that are long overdue.

Now I wait for all the parts to come in. It's going to be a fun spring. 🙂

The new back tire came in today. No wrapping. No protection of any kind. It's beat all to shit.

$275.00 tire.

I wouldn't give you $2.75 for it. I sure as hell wouldn't put it on my bike.

I tell you, I weep for the present, let alone the future. Nobody gives a shit about anything anymore.

Already called and told them it's coming back. The front tire is supposed to be here Friday, so I'm waiting to see if it's shit too and do both at the same time.

Finally got the new meat put on the rims.

It's taking forever getting parts in. After 17 years since production stopped (my bike was one of the very last ones made), parts are scarce and widely scattered.

I've ridden on Metlers for years. The bike came with Dunlops on it and I didn't care for them. I don't think the lasted 4,500 miles.

Michelin makes a really good tire too called the Commander series, but they don't hold up as well as the Metlers do.

A fellow Vmax rider swears by Shinko tires. They're less than half the price of the Metler 888's but he typically only gets about 3,000 miles out of then.

The Vmax is a very punishing bike on tires and brakes because not only is it very, very powerful but very, very heavy.

Yeah. I wanted them to match the factory calipers as much as possible. From the picture, they've done a very, very good job. Here's the factory 4 piston caliper. (Everything is still very dirty and it's literally just hanging there waiting to be replaced.)

I heard a similar one where a lady is telling a friend that she thinks her husband is having an affair.

She confides in her girlfriend how bad things have gotten so quickly.

He seems distant, doesn't speak much and the bedroom has been a total shutdown for over a week.

Meanwhile, in the man's head: Bike won't start. Can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong.
