I went to bed last night thoroughly disgusted with the state of affairs in this country. I woke up to find it on fire.
It has been the perfect storm of tragedy this year. For starters, you had our President fighting to defend convicted criminals. Then you had a new virus roll into the nation completely unchecked, called a hoax, allowed to fester, and spread into the worst pandemic since the bubonic plague.
Then, we have a white woman trying to weaponize the police by dialing 911 and pretending to be in the middle of being assaulted by a black man that simply asked her to put her dog on a leash.
At virtually the same time, we had a white cop with his knee across the throat of a black man who was face down on the pavement with his hands cuffed behind his back. After complaining of not being able to breath, he went unconscious and ultimately died.
Last night, protests over all of this came to a head in cities across the nation and resulted in what can best be described as all out riots.
So, let’s review the state of affairs in this nation as of this morning in no particular order:
- 40 million people have lost their jobs.
- Over 100,000 people have lost their lives to Covid-19
- Hospitalizations of Covid-19 are now on the rise after some states opened prematurely as directed by Trump and Fox News.
- Riots are taking place in cities across the nation over police brutality and white privileged.
- Trade wars are about to erupt between China, the United States and Europe.
So where is our Commander in Chief?
He’s signing an executive order against Twitter.
That’s right. The same man that did nothing for two months as Covid-19 swept the nation, the same man who did nothing about mass job losses, the same man who gave billions of taxpayer dollars to his friends and on and on and on IMMEDIATELY leaps into action against Twitter because Twitter had the audacity to put a fact check on his post.
Here’s what happened:
A couple days ago Trump tweeted about how mail in voting resulted in massive voter fraud. He’s been claiming that for years. The problem is that it’s completely unfounded. The only case of mail in voter fraud we have in living memory was actually conducted by Republicans in 2018 in North Carolina.
So it’s simply Trump once again projecting: since his people did it he assumes that everybody else is doing it.
People started calling out Jack Dorsey for not holding Trump accountable to the same community standards that everybody else are held to; namely posting false and fraudulent information.
So Jack took action. He fact checked Trump’s tweet.
This sent Trump completely over the edge.
Not the nation on fire. Not over 100,000 Americans dead from Covid-19, not 40 million American’s out of work in the last 10 weeks.
None of it.
He had a fact check put on his moronic claims of voter fraud that have no legitimate basis on earth.
Within 24 hours he had signed an executive order against Twitter. (It’s supposed to be all social media, but we all know why he wrote it.)
That’s your president, ladies and gentlemen. That’s what he cares about: his Twitter account.
So Trump then tweets that he’s going to start killing people. I’m not kidding. He said, “when the looting starts the shooting starts” and talked about sending the military to kill looters.
This of course violates Twitter’s terms of service. He got labeled again:
This is our president, ladies and gentlemen.
And as if that weren’t enough, he just found out about it and is tweeting up a storm over it:
This is our president, ladies and gentlemen. A child. A child throwing a temper tantrum over his social media account while the nation burns, the people are divided, Covid-19 kills continuously on its way to 200,000, millions more lose their jobs each week and more.
This is our leader.
