They say history repeats itself. What they never said is that it apparently gets worse and worse as it does. Ladies and gentlemen, you can’t make this stuff up.

Back on the 17th of April, 1961, the United States launched a coup in Cuba meant to overthrow Fidel Castro. Teams of Americans including the CIA had supposedly trained Cuban exiles that were anti-Castro to fight as professionals.

It was a complete, total, catastrophic, utter, epic failure. By the 20th, they were crushed, captured and executed for the most part. Castro allegedly pulled a groin he was laughing so hard.

So flash forward 59 years almost to the day and something similar, only more comical, takes place.

Venezuela has been a hot bed of trouble for years. The whole thing really came to a head a little over a year ago when the economy completely collapsed, there was reported voter fraud, the duly elected president wasn’t allowed to take office, it’s just a mess that we could go on about for weeks.

But we’re not going to. Let’s cut to the chase.

The bad guy in all of this is Nicolas Maduro. The entire planet agrees he’s a bad guy and needs to go. The problem is that Maduro is propped up by the army and in large part by Russia as well. Donald Trump has made no secret that he would love to get rid of Maduro.

It would appear that he may have taken matters into his own hands.

There is a company in Flordia called Silvercorp. Silvercorp brands itself as a risk management business. To read some of their text it sounds more like they fancy themselves as the United States Marine Corps. Some text from their site:

When a crisis arises, the first thing people often look for is a leader: the person who knows how to solve the problem and will take the necessary steps to do so. Very few individuals are experts in handling crisis situations. Inexperienced leaders can make rash decisions, react too quickly to the situation, or worse, not react at all in hopes that the situation will work itself out. Nowadays, with the way information travels instantaneously, crisis situations typically do not “just work themselves out.” You need to intervene before the situation escalates. If you are looking for help managing a crisis, Silvercorp USA is highly experienced in handling the whole spectrum of crisis situations.

Um Hm. OK. Right.

That brings us to the meat and potatoes of this story.

Just this past Monday, April 4th, 2020, a team of 13 would be invaders was apprehended who Maduro alleged were trying to overthrow him. Among those 13 people were two Americans. The two Americans are Luke Denman and Airan Berry, both former U.S. Special Forces soldiers.

Captured would-be liberators taken from online video.

According to Venezuelan officials, eight people were also killed during a brief fire fight, so that brings the total number of people involved to 21.

It gets worse.

Luke Denman and Airan Berry work for Silvercorp USA. Silvercorp USA has done work for President Donald J. Trump.

You see where this is going, don’t you?

Let’s go back just a second to the text from Silvercorps site:

Very few individuals are experts in handling crisis situations. Inexperienced leaders can make rash decisions…

That’s about the only real truth in all of this right there.

Donald Trump denies any knowledge at all of this debacle. And by debacle, I mean it in every sense of the word.

These two guys, Luke Denman and Airan Berry, supposedly these two top-notch special forces gurus, trained 19 Venezuelan nationals to overthrow Nicolas Maduro who commands roughly 130,000 troops.

So what sort of heavy artillery did they possess?

Well, ummm…none. They had a few long guns, among them an Airsoft rifle. Yes, folks, an Airsoft rifle. Those are the air powered rifles that fire little pellets that are used by guys that play a sort of live action Call of Duty. They’re non-lethal. Picture paint-ball without the paint.

They actually piled into a few old motor boats to get there. That they made it to landfall alive is nothing short of a miracle.

This thing was such an epic fail that some of the would be liberators were actually held by local fishermen until the authorities showed up.

It gets funnier!

A man named Jordan Goudreau, who is in fact a former Green Beret, who actually owns Silvercorps USA admitted to the Associated Press that Luke Denman and Airan Berry worked for him and that his firm was in charge of the failed coup attempt.

Ex-Green Beret who claimed responsibility for Venezuela raid under ...
Jordan Goudreau

Mr. Goudreau is now under investigation by United States law enforcement for trafficking weapons.

The real X factor in all of this is: Did Trump know about it and in fact ask them to do it?

After all, this little Flordia business allegedly provided security for Trump in the past, so they know each other. Trump is known for going off the reservation to get what he wants.

It does sound fishy, does it not?

In the end, ladies and gentlemen, I could probably have gone up the road to Lake Lanier, assembled about 20 red necks with shotguns and pistols, loaded into a couple of house boats chocked full of beer with a couple of hibachi grills and done about as good a job as these people did.

So lets go back to that text from Silvercorp USA one last time:

Very few individuals are experts in handling crisis situations. Inexperienced leaders can make rash decisions…
